Restoring a manor house on the banks of the Loir

The landscaping of the surroundings of this charming manor on the banks of this peaceful river is being carried out in several stages.
The first step was to excavate the ground between the manor courtyard and the outbuildings to restore the height of one of the dwelling's walls.
The restored proportions and the creation of a retaining wall to preserve the thus recreated space were also intended to highlight an old dovecote, a true 'folly' in the setting.
In a second phase, major remodeling work will aim to restore the land to its original silhouette, by transforming a talweg artificially created in the 19th century into a waterfall facing the west walls of the manor and its moat.
All of this work is taking place under the supervision of the Historic Monuments authority.
