Creating a large pleasure garden near Villandry

In this beautiful 19th-century property, the owners wanted to eliminate very large fruit plots (more than 3,000 apple and pear trees) that are impossible to maintain today, in order to create a pleasure garden.

In the main perspective of the château, the pool-basin was meant to create a link between the château and the vast landscape.

The latter was to include a rose garden and a pool-basin. One of the project's objectives was to build upon a number of elements from the 'historic' garden to create pleasant walkways, particularly through a rose alley and a formal garden that included a pavilion. The project also included the need to treat the park's boundaries in order to isolate the residence from the view of passersby.
