This landscaping project was essentially guided by the need to respond to my client's desire to build a swimming pool while respecting the strong protection constraints of this privileged location on the Basque coast. After numerous back-and-forths with the ABF (Architect of the Buildings of France), the only possible location was in place of three palm trees nearly 6 m high on a very artificial earth mound.

We were able to transplant the three palm trees and remodel the mound that would accommodate the pool to make it more integrated into the overall garden. By adding stairs, it even became the physical junction point of the different parts of the garden in addition to being its focal center. The rest of the design was guided by principles of simplification and enclosure based on a coherent plant palette very much inspired by the local flora.
